FAQ

Questions about couples therapy in Alaska.

How do we get started?

The first step is a free 15-minute consultation. It is a chance to share what is bringing you in, ask questions, and see whether working together feels like a good fit.

Can you work with couples anywhere in Alaska?

Yes. All sessions are held over secure video, and care is provided through PSYPACT authorization. Both partners need to be located in Alaska, or another state where Dr. Lenger is authorized to practice, at the time of each session.

Is couples therapy the same as marriage counseling?

The terms are often used interchangeably. Relationship Health Collective works with married, engaged, and unmarried couples, using approaches grounded in the most rigorously researched methods in the field.

How long does working together last?

Couples therapy meets weekly for 50 minutes and typically runs 16 to 26 sessions, though this varies. The Relationship Checkup is two focused sessions, and Couples Intensives take place over one or two days.

What are your fees, and do you take insurance?

Fees are listed on the Investment page. Relationship Health Collective is out of network, and superbills for potential out-of-network reimbursement can be provided in certain circumstances. Payment is accepted by credit card and HSA/FSA accounts.

Do you work with LGBTQIA+ couples and diverse relationship structures?

Yes. Relationship Health Collective provides inclusive, affirming care for couples of all identities, orientations, and relationship structures.
